What does body acidity have to do with fading mobile phone keypads? Is that a myth?

I have a Moto Razr, and the keypad has been fading and turning really ugly. Someone told me that a person with high acidity usually has faded mobile phone keypads. I am quite unsure, but I checked with Motorola and it turns out that the razr keypad is coated with a chemical alloy.
